Setting Up AI Link Suggestions

Link Whisper AI uses semantic analysis to find stronger internal-linking opportunities. In V4, AI suggestions use Link Whisper AI credits and are configured from the AI and AI Subscription screens.

Before You Start

  • Install and activate Link Whisper Premium.
  • Run the initial site scan from Link Whisper → Dashboard → Run Scan, or complete the One Click Setup wizard.
  • Make sure your Link Whisper account has AI credits available.
  1. Go to Link Whisper → AI Subscription.
  2. Use the available Get Started or plan action to connect the site and set up AI credits.
  3. Return to Link Whisper → Settings → AI and confirm that the site is connected.

If the AI Subscription menu is not visible, open the AI tab in Settings and use its setup link.

2. Enable AI-Powered Suggestions

  1. In Link Whisper → Settings → AI, find Use AI-Powered Suggestions.
  2. Enable the setting and save your changes.
  3. Under AI Processing Actions to Perform, select the AI processing needed for your site. AI Relation Analysis provides the relationship data used for stronger suggestions.

AI-powered suggestions work best after Link Whisper has processed a substantial portion of the site. The setting may remain unavailable until enough AI Relation Analysis data has been built.

3. Run AI Processing

Open Link Whisper → Dashboard and run a scan to refresh link and target-keyword data. For the AI preparation scan, use Perform Basic AI Scanning and then Review Scan when those controls are shown.

If you are using One Click Setup, the AI linking version of the final step is labelled Scan & Link Site. Review the available credit estimate before starting a large run.

V4 uses background processing for supported scans and fixes. You can close the scan window and continue working; return to Link Whisper to review progress and results.

4. Review Suggestions

  1. Open Link Whisper → Links Report.
  2. Use the By Post view or the suggestion controls to find the source posts you want to review.
  3. Check the suggested sentence, anchor text, target post, and destination URL.
  4. Insert, edit, ignore, or delete suggestions according to your linking plan.

You can also review suggestions from the Link Whisper panel in the WordPress editor when it is available for the editor and content type.

AI Credits

AI credits are used for AI link suggestions and other AI work, including AI fixes for broken links, orphan posts, and link-quality improvements. Check your balance and AI Credit History at Link Whisper → AI Subscription.

If there are not enough credits, Link Whisper can fall back to keyword-based suggestions where supported. Add credits from the AI Subscription screen if you need to continue AI processing.

Do Not Add a Personal OpenAI API Key

Do not follow older instructions that tell you to connect a personal OpenAI API key. The current Link Whisper AI workflow uses Link Whisper AI credits.

If Suggestions Are Missing

  1. Confirm the site scan has finished on the Dashboard.
  2. Confirm Link Whisper AI is connected under Settings → AI.
  3. Confirm Use AI-Powered Suggestions is enabled and the required AI processing action has run.
  4. Check the AI credit balance and history.
  5. Check Settings → Content Scope and Settings → Linking Rules if relevant content is excluded.

The current V4 setup does not use a minimum page-word-count setting.
